Obituary Thomas Heumesser
Our colleague, friend and supporter of EFRC, Thomas Heumesser, has passed away at the age of 63 on June 5th, 2022 on the consequences of a heart attack.
He leaves behind his wife, Ursula Heumesser, and his sons Thomas and Matthias.
Thomas has been engaged with two EFRC companies:
Since 1989 he worked for Leobersdorfer Maschinenfabrik (LMF) in Austria. Since 2016 he has been engaged with Sauer Compressors in Kiel and took over 2020 the position as CTO of this company.
Thomas has been a big contributor within the EFRC from the beginning. He always supported the R&D Working Group with new ideas and technologies, at any time happy to share deep insights into reciprocating compression. At his suggestion, LMF donated a compressor to TU Dresden for the EFRC project Piston Rod Cooling performed by Dr. Christiane Thomas. Under his leadership Sauer Compressors spent a yearly bigger amount for the R&D Working Group. In addition to that he has been auditor of the EFRC for 3 years.
Let us all keep him in good memory and remember his enthusiasm, creativity and big smile that we experienced for many years.
Thomas inspired many in the EFRC family, here are some final words:
Dear Thomas!
I will miss your creativity, your enthusiasm and your happiness a lot!
Dr. Christiane Thomas

I offer my condolences to the family and friends on the passing of Thomas.
I know him as a very knowledgeable and experienced specialist, but above all I know him as a very friendly and social person with a warm hart for his family and friends.
I will always remember our nice conversations and I wish the family a lot of strength in processing this loss.

Dear Thomas,
I will never forget when I got the chance as a young engineer to visit my first EFRC R&D meeting the warm and open welcome you gave me. In the coffee breaks we had these very inspiring and funny conversations on multiple subjects – how inviting was that! Over the years I was always looking forward to meet you again, eager to discuss and learn about new subjects together with you!
Thank you!
Gunther Machu
