15th EFRC Conference 2027, September 28–30, 2027
We are pleased to announce that the 15th EFRC Conference will be held at the Louwman Museum in The Hague, the Netherlands, from September 28–30, 2027.
The conference brings together operators, engineers, scientists and manufacturers to discuss how reciprocating compressors are designed, operated and maintained. We welcome presentations on Research & Development, EFRC projects, and ideas for precompetitive research.
For the 15th edition we have chosen the special topic „Managing your fleet of recips in a dynamic environment“. Operators are usually responsible for a fleet of machines spread across sites and operating conditions, and the conditions around that fleet keep moving. In Europe, refinery closures have left the remaining plants, many of them old, working to get as much as they can out of the compressors they already have, through optimisation and upgrades aimed at efficiency, reliability and environmental compliance. Energy prices have risen since recent geopolitical events, natural gas and electricity in particular, while crude feedstock prices and sources remain volatile, so refiners are continuously optimising for sulphur content alongside cost. Process gas plants face the same rise in energy costs, with cyclical demand adding a further question of how the compressors should be run. Around all of this sit spare parts availability, supply chains that are harder to predict, changing process requirements, and reliability and maintenance decisions that have to be weighed across several machines at once. Operating philosophy has to be adapted as external conditions change.
This is the discussion we would like to open in The Hague, and we would particularly welcome submissions from end users and operators, including joint contributions with their suppliers, describing real operating problems and the decisions taken in response.
