Review of the EFRC Student Workshop 2025
For the twelfth time, the European Forum for Reciprocating Compressors (EFRC) hosted the EFRC Student Workshop – a unique initiative to offer students an in-depth and practical look into the world of reciprocating compressors. In May of this year, 23 students from across Europe travelled through the Netherlands and Germany, accompanied by workshop guides André Eijk and Konrad Klotsche, to visit key players and application areas within the reciprocating compressor community.
At six different stops, the hosts provided the participants with a close-up view behind the scenes. They vividly demonstrated the passion and innovation that drive the continued development of this proven technology – and how it is being integrated into future industrial applications such as hydrogen systems. The personal encounters with research, application and manufacturing left a lasting impression. Numerous enthusiastic responses from the participants encouraged the EFRC team to continue this format and further strengthen the connection with the next generation of professionals – all in the spirit of the “Passion for Compression.”
A sincere thank you goes to all hosts for their openness and generosity with their time:
TNO – Néstor González Díez & Leonard van Lier
Burckhardt Compression – Bert Den Teuling, Markus Bruns & Jan de Koning
Shell Pernis – Pieter Verhage, Sèra Zalman & Edwin van der Geest
Howden Thomassen Compressors – Niek Albers & Aico Simon Peek
RWE – André Tenbrock-Ingenhorst & Sebastian Cichowski
Gasunie – Robbert Pol & Jarno Drenth
We also wish to thank the dedicated organising team – Maja Schütz, Bernd Schmidt and André Eijk – for their tremendous support in making the workshop a success.
Last but not least, the EFRC expresses its sincere gratitude to all members whose continued support and commitment make such a special event possible in the first place.
